Keys for wordpress.org
You can also get these at wordpress.org. The ones here are generated using the same algorithm as the spcial char password generator above.
these take a few seconds more to load. Click here to get them.
Some notes
quick version with curl or wget
You can also use this tool for a quick password generator using wget or curl, with the quiet option.
Use one of these:
wget -q -O - https://secure.srtdata.com/hints/pwgen.php?quiet
wget -q -O - "https://secure.srtdata.com/hints/pwgen.php?length=X&quiet"#for different pw length
curl https://secure.srtdata.com/hints/pwgen.php?quiet
curl "https://secure.srtdata.com/hints/pwgen.php?length=X&quiet" # for different length passwords.
Note that the quiet method does not escape html-special characters (e.g. & to &) It also outputs only the special-character password.
leet-style passwords
now we do a leet-style password for you whiners. This is always
between 6-10 chars regardless of ?length
This page does not cache.
caching has been tested with some versions of safari, firefox, and IE.
Test your own browser to be sure. you don't want your password sitting on your browser cache.
This page shoudl be secure
This page should be secure (HTTPS). Your URL should start with:
https://secure.srtdata.com/hints/pwgen.php
This is the true URL. non-https urls (e.g. http://www.srtdata.com/) should
redirect you to the secure page.
Don't come crying.
I make no guarantees or claims. Use it or don't, but if you do use it
and something happens, don't tell me about it.
Encryption
This uses /dev/random, which outputs an entropy-pool random set of bytes
which are then magically transformed to what you see above
Password length
the ?length=xx takes a length from 2 to 1024.
Password managers
Of course, you'll need a password manager. I've heard good things about
Keypass (open source)
for Windows. I use
info.xhead ($15 US)
for OS X. I also use Yojimbo
($39 US).
